Welcome

The Film Music Foundation (FMF), a nonprofit California Public Benefit Corporation, promotes appreciation of the art and craft of film music through education, filmed interviews, scholarly research and writing, and film scoring workshops for students.

The FMF was founded in 2001 by composers Elmer Bernstein and Herschel Burke Gilbert, with the assistance of attorney Les T. Zador, son of orchestrator Eugene Zador. A dedicated group of composers, historians and other film music professionals were invited to join the board. We welcome you to read more about the Film Music Foundation, the projects we have funded, and how to apply for grants.
